Grant McPhail began in the insurance and financial advisory business in 1985. He has attained his CFP, CLU, and CHFC. Grant has been with Rice Financial for the past seven years.
Grant grew up and lived in Brandon from 1955 to 1971. He went to University of Manitoba and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) majoring in marketing and corporate finance. Grant spent time in Japan in 1976 teaching bankers and commodity traders "the English of international finance". After returning to Canada, he worked for two years at an international trading company in Ottawa, before moving to Winnipeg and spending six years as a commodity trader and stockbroker. |
In Brandon, Grant has been a board member of the YMCA, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Wheatbelt Community Futures, in addition to a past Chair of the Brandon Economic Development Board.
Grant's wife, Dale Severyn, is an education consultant in the Brandon School Division. They have two children, both attending the University of British Columbia: Cameron (22) and Andrew (18).
Over the past 38 years, Rice Financial has grown from a one-person operation in Brandon, Manitoba to become one of Canada's largest independent financial solution providers and the flagship of the Jovian group of companies. A vast network of branch and associate offices stretches from the BC coast to the Ontario/Quebec border, serving more than 85,000 clients and administering assets nearing $4.0 billion.
Throughout its tremendous growth, the company has never lost sight of its roots in the community. At a time when other institutions are abandoning their rural presence in favor of centralization, Rice Financial continues to pursue new growth opportunities in underserved markets, with a focus on Alberta, BC and Ontario.
